History of the Nursery Even though the preschool began using the Parks room in 1981, the nursery was still only being utilized by the church. However, in 1991, director Debby Welsh felt that adding toddler classes to the preschool would enhance the program. The church gave the preschool its blessing to use the nursery area and toddler classes were created. Having a toddler program was and still is an advantage for Mariemont Community Church Preschool. Parents come to us from all over the Cincinnati area due to the fact that we offer part-time toddler classes. Even though the nursery room has experienced many decorative changes in recent years, it continues to be the location for our toddler classes. Because of the extent of the work that had to be done due to water damage from the 2001 flood, the church felt it was an opportune time to build a new wall in the muscle room to create a new classroom next to the existing nursery. This allowed the church nursery helpers to separate the infants from the toddlers, and allowed the preschool to add more toddler classes. And, as part of the 2002 spruce-up, murals were painted in the newly constructed toddler room as well. Included was a mural of Jesus surrounded by children along with the words, “Jesus loves the little children of the world."
