His kingdom comes His will is done On earth as it is in heaven MCC PRAYER MINISTRY By Susan Carson As we seek to live, move, and breath more and more in the Kingdom of God, prayer becomes essential. It is our fuel for the journey. So as a church, we are seeking new ways to engage more people in prayer in more ways, at more times, in more places. Here is the vision and mission God is unfolding for us. …
Vision His kingdom comes. His will is done. On earth as it is in heaven.
The Body of Christ—breathing with the Trinity, as one. Hearts beat in rhythm with the heartbeat of the Father. We become more like the Son. We pray in the power of the Spirit. We pray believing God for the impossible. People from all walks of life are engaged in intimate, multifaceted, accessible, 24/7 prayer experiences, grounded in God’s Word, infused with worship, and modeled on the life of Christ. Together, our experience of prayer moves from monochrome to Technicolor. From disciplined to intimate. Men, women, and children are transformed, healed, and saved through encounters with the living God and with one another. Mission To advance the rule and reign of God in our lives, our communities, and our world through intimate, passionate, and unceasing dialogue with God. Sounds great. But how do we get there from here? The vision is big. God is bigger. And we’re taking small steps toward the calling God has for us as a house of prayer. Will you pray with us that God will increase our hearts for prayer? If you sense God calling you to pray, consider these options for getting involved.
Wednesday Prayer. Join us Wednesday evenings, 7:00-8:00, in the Chapel. We’re praying through the scriptures in the Kingdom series. Our new format will include worship, opportunities to pray in small groups or alone, and opportunities to receive prayer. You can select your own group: Missions and Ministries focus, MCC focus, scripture focus, or silent meditation. On the fourth Wednesday of each month our meetings will have a healing focus, so please feel free to bring physical, spiritual, or emotional needs for prayer. Prayer List. Receive prayer requests by email. The MCC prayer list includes prayer requests from the missionaries and ministries we support, as well as from MCC friends and family. You can incorporate the list into your prayer life as God leads. Prayer Teams. Join a prayer team. We offer prayer during communion on Sunday mornings twice a month. Prayer teams are available to pray for anyone who has a need. Teams will be scheduled to pray on a rotating basis. Prayer enlarges the heart until it is capable of containing God's gift of himself.—Mother TeresaWatch for new opportunities and training coming in the months ahead. We’re praying about a Wednesday night prayer club for kids, a church-wide day of prayer, and new opportunities for prayer throughout the week. If you have questions, comments, or would like to get involved in a new or different way, please contact me.
Prayer is… Central to the ministry of Jesus. Jesus only did what he saw the Father doing. Through prayer, through relationship with the Father, Jesus knew the Father’s heart. Through prayer, Jesus ushered in the kingdom. Prayer was central to Jesus’ life on earth and is central to his ministry now in heaven. God’s invitation to us to participate in what he’s doing, in his kingdom coming, here and now, in our midst. It is an invitation to step into the authority he has given us. As such, it is our training ground for eternity. Foundational to our growth as followers of Jesus. It is a principle means by which God changes our hearts, the very wellsprings of our lives. It is this inward change, this intimate experience with our God, that results in outward transformation. Not outward, religious facades, but the inward, Spirit-born fruit of lives transformed because they have been with God, have seen and heard him, and been forever changed. An inseparable part of worship, of growth, of evangelism. It is foundational to unity and true fellowship in the Body. The depth of our prayer experience as a community reflects the depth of our communion with Christ. A sign of our true citizenship. We cry out to God from a place of recognizing our own desperate need. Knowing we can do nothing without him. Knowing all is possible in and through him. We present our lives as living sacrifices, an offering of worship and prayer pleasing to our God. We relinquish our investment in this world and invest, instead, in eternity.
