ONE APPROACH TO A PRIVATE WORSHIP TIME WITH JESUS by Denis Beausejour, Senior Pastor 1. Find a quiet comfortable place. Ask God to meet with you. 2. Read a selection of Scripture. Let it soak in. Listen to His voice. Ask Him to help you understand the words and see their link to your life. 3. Give God praise – ascribe worth to Him. Admire Him, perhaps using the words you just read. Praise His works and character qualities. 4. Thank Him for the many ways He has blessed you: your breath, your life, your salvation, your purpose, your family, friends, etc. 5. As His holy presence grows around you, you may need to confess (agree with Him) on things that inhibit full communion between you. Ask Him to reveal any unforgiveness, idolatry, or unbelief in you. 6. Enjoy His presence – you are now in the Holy of Holies! Breathe in and be filled with Him: His Spirit, His Wisdom, & His Great Love for you! Ask Jesus to live His life through yours today – to change you and give you His character qualities. Imagine Him climbing into you! For some, a song may be helpful to deepen your meditation. Enjoy! 7. Ask Him to speak to you. Ask Him a question. Ask Him for direction. Then, take time to listen to Him – expect an answer! Wait on Him! You may want to journal what you sense Him saying to you. 8. Make your requests to Him, in the Spirit. Think Big, and think about the whole church – ask Him to unify and fill every believer! Pray His Word back to Him, like Colossians 1:9-14, or Ephesians 3:14-21. 9. Close with worship. Ask Him to help you abide with Him all day, so you can experience this communion with Him more and more. Ask Him to make you into a worshiper like David! |
