Pastor Denis' Recommended Summer Reading
Tuesday, June 13 2006
Total Truth Nancy Pearcey’s book will challenge your thinking and help you build a more robust Christian world view.
The Complete Green Letters, Miles Stanford’s classic from the 60s is a wonderful look at the life we have been given in Christ.
The End of Faith, Sam Harris argues that the world’s religions are plunging the world into terror. Reading this atheist is not for the faint of heart, but it will give you a chance to test your world view, and also to see the ways our faith has been used for evil in the past, while challenging you to live the royal law of love that Jesus teaches.
The Bible in 90 Days, Ted Cooper figured out that you can read the whole Bible in 90 days if you read 12 pages a day. I began this journey on June 1 and am already amazed by how many new things I have noticed! This will change your life for sure!
Golf in the Spirit, M. Scott Peck, author of “The Road Less Traveled,” wrote this a few years ago, but it remains one of the great works on the intersection of golf and life, with a light seasoning of the author’s unconventional faith journey.
Integrity, The courage to meet the demands of reality. This is probably my favorite book from popular author Dr. Henry Cloud. A wonderful insight to God’s formation of our character.
