Building bridges with neighbors We are a young family living and working in one of East Asia’s rapidly morphing mega-cities.
We have invested several years in the study of the local language and culture, believing that this is essential to understanding our local friends and communicating the gospel in their heart language.

I am a university professor/teacher, seeking to impact students through academics. I use film and literature to open students’ eyes to the needs, tragedy, pain, truth, and beauty of life on this earth and draw them to the grace, love, and hope found in Jesus. I also seek to teach communication fundamentals which are key to helping them succeed in their jobs and, more importantly, in their marriages and families.

Pray for creative new ways to invite them into our lives, and for us as we sojourn with them through the issues of life.In our community we are attempting to build bridges with our neighbors through small kindnesses. In general, East Asians do not reach out to their neighbors or make friends with strangers easily, so this is a long process. Please pray for creative new ways that we can invite them into our lives.

We are growing increasingly aware of the homeless and poor. There are many that we see in our daily lives and we are growing increasingly alert to their brokenness and needs. We aren’t sure how to reach out to them except to be kind and compassionate, and pray for them when we have the opportunity. Please pray that we’d find creative ways to love them for the sake of Christ and teach others to do the same.

As others come to know Jesus, we seek to help them become his disciples even as we seek to follow Him better ourselves. Please pray that we’d be wise as we sojourn with them through the issues of life. As his disciples, we trust they will become influencers in their networks and in-groups, thus leading others to the kingdom of God.Image
