It’s loaded with opportunities to step outside the busyness of the holidays, connect with the Lord, and grow in your experience of prayer. Pick one, some, or all of the experiences we’re offering.
Day of Prayer — Saturday, December 1, 9a — 4p: Praying for Others, 9-11:30a, led by Pastor Denis and Susan Carson—We’ll look at the Biblical foundations for prayer, the prayer life of Jesus, and a practical model for praying for others. This training will increase your comfort level in prayer. It is required for prayer teams. - Contemplative Prayer, 12-4p, Be Still DVD, including teaching from Dallas Willard, Richard Foster, Beth Moore, and others—An experience in the practice of silence, solitude, and lectio divina. This session will include a brief time of teaching and an extended time of practice in quieting your heart before God and meditating on his Word.
- Personal Devotional Prayer—The Chapel will be open 9-4 for your personal time with the Lord.
- We’ll offer other prayer opportunities throughout the day.
- Lunch will be available 11:30-1:00.
- Come alone, with your small group, family, or friends.
- Stay for an hour or for the day.

A variety of opportunities will be available throughout the day. Pick the time and place that suits you and your day. Try one offering or try them all. How long you stay is up to you. However you choose to participate, we believe the Lord will meet you, refresh you, and take you deeper in your life of prayer. Here’s the schedule for the day: 9:00-9:15 Join together in worship in the Parish Center 9:15-11:30 Praying for Others, training led by Pastor Denis and Susan Carson, Parish Center 11:30-1:00 Lunch offered for you at your leisure, Parish Center, kitchen 12:00-1:00 Prayer for MCC ministry and missionary partners around the corner and around the world, led by Zeke Swift, Parish Center, Lounge 1:15-2:15 Introduction to contemplative prayer, Parish Center, Lounge 2:30-4:00 Personal time for contemplation and prayer, Parish Center and Chapel Also, the Chapel and prayer room (in the Parish Center clock tower), as well as classrooms in the Parish Center, will be open from 9-4, for your personal time of solitude and silence. No RSVP is necessary. However, it would be helpful to have a count for lunch. |
