Our first Sunday back in the Chapel
chapel_spring_2008.jpg

"In the belief that the Kingdom of God can be more speedily advanced and the spiritual needs of Mariemont vicinity can be best served by uniting all Christian believers in their worship, fellowship and Christian work, this church is founded."
                      --Mary Muhlenberg Emery, 1926

Today, May 4, we rededicated the Chapel to the service of the Lord after months of renovations. Inspired by the heart of founder Mary Emery, Joy Norman shared a brief history of the Chapel after a video of construction and reconstruction produced by Mark Lawry.  We welcomed honored guests from the Emery Foundation and Oswald Construction. Coffee and refreshments were served on the newly stone-paved patio.
Enjoy photos of the services here.  Download the dedication outline here .

Class - Following the Master
May 4 at 9a, we'll begin an 18-week walk through the roughly 50 things Jesus expressly taught his followers to do.  However, the focus will not be on what, but how. Here's an opportunity to enter into the climax of the great commission, "teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you," personally and as preparation to teach others. Join us each Sunday at Dale Park Middle School, lower level ... You'll be glad you did. For more information, contact Zeke Swift, Mike Cambron or John Cofskey.

Coming up
Sunday, May 18, join us after church for an MCC Family meeting.  Details coming soon, but plan to attend now for important updates about the church.
Baby Dedications will be June 8.  Please contact Pastor Denis or Pastor Todd for more information.

The Well
Come be refreshed at
The Well

Wednesdays, 7-8p
Parish Center Lounge
MCC's Wednesday evening gathering is changing. The Well is a time to be refreshed through worship and the Word. Each week, we'll focus on a prayer from scripture as we worship and pray together. There's freedom to pray out loud or silently, or just to rest in His presence. Bring your personal prayer needs as well. We'll have a time of ministry at the end. Leaders are available to pray with you for healing and other needs in your life.

Introducing our online Photo Journal

2008_move_laura_trish_wmannequins.jpgWhen looking for a church to visit, it is great to have a look inside.  We are pleased to announce our new photo journals so you can see that while we seek God with all of our hearts, we are a fun bunch to be around.  We hope you visit sometime soon.  In the meantime, enjoy our photos here .
Thanks to John Cowell who took most of our starter photos!  Got pix to share?  Let John know.

Book: The End of Religion

end_of_religion.jpgEncountering the Subversive Spirituality of Jesus
By Bruxy Cavey

"Many of the people I talk to have a problem – they want their lives to have a deeper sense of meaning, purpose, and value but they don’t want to turn to God to find it.
When I probe a little deeper I find that many people don’t really want to give up on God at all, but have become spiritually discouraged through their own negative religious experiences. For them, maybe for you, church has become a boring monument of antiquated irrelevant traditionalism. And who needs that?!

William Borden - Heir to the Borden Dairy Fortune

borden_william.jpg"No Reserves. No Retreats. No Regrets."
In 1904 William Borden graduated from a Chicago high school. As heir to the Borden Dairy estate, he was already a millionaire. For his high school graduation present, his parents gave 16-year-old Borden a trip around the world. As the young man traveled through Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, he felt a growing burden for the world's hurting people. Finally, Bill Borden wrote home about his "desire to be a missionary."
One friend expressed surprise that he was "throwing himself away as a missionary."
In response, Bill wrote two words in the back of his Bible: "No reserves."
